Thank you Carlow for what turned out to be an amazing Easter Sunday! There was a real carnival atmosphere that pulled in crowds of bike fans and their families for a mega festival of fun, excitement and the sheer pleasure of mixing with people who love life on two wheels. They poured in to town from all over Ireland – and a heck of a lot further afield – for a magic day out to remember.
This show has a reputation for showcasing the cream of vintage, classic and custom vehicles…and this year it really excelled itself by bringing together a fantastic display of machines that you rarely get to see in one place.
Lovingly restored and ready to ride, there were race and road models spanning decades of motorcycling history. Each one of these cherished machines had its own unique history and the proud owners were bombarded with questions. They were more than happy to answer them all, and delighted to pose for selfies with their beloved machines and crowds of enthusiasts clustered round.
There was a heady mix of excitement and bargain-hunting throughout the show. Just wandering around was entertainment in itself, and there was bags more to enjoy for fans and their families. Live music, trade stands and stalls galore. And as ever, one of the biggest lures was the brilliant autojumble where hordes of people were rummaging through mountains of money-saving offers on stacks of kit.
Carlow showed off lots of machines you’d just love to ride – but there’s only one place where you can get in the saddle of Ron Haslam’s bike and ride it round a race track. That’s by going online for the free download the amazing insidebikes app powered by Carole Nash. Then you’ll soon find yourself astride Rocket Ron’s Honda Superbike on a breathtaking augmented reality 360O experience of racing round the world famous Donington GP Circuit.
